Dog Licensing and Pit Bulls
The Town currently has an Animal Control By-Law 9-06, as amended, which sets out the requirements for all residents of Aylmer about the keeping of any animal within the limits of the Town, as well as the licensing requirements for dogs. The by-law defines a "Potentially Dangerous" and "Dangerous Dog", and sets out the process whereby a dog can be declared potentially dangerous or dangerous.
As of October 28th, 2005, all owners of Pit Bulls must have the animal neutered and when off the owner's property the dog must be muzzled and on a leash that does not exceed 1.8 metres.
