The Aylmer Heritage Committee undertakes educational activities to increase public knowledge and appreciation of the benefits of heritage conservation. The Committee advises Council on current heritage legislation and assists Council in the preparation of municipal legislation to conserve properties of cultural heritage value, or interest, and advises on issues relating to the conservation of heritage architecture and items of historical significance. The Committee establishes the criteria for the evaluation of properties of cultural heritage value or interest, and maintains a list of properties and areas of cultural heritage value or interest.
