The Aylmer Area Community Choir became a reality in 2003 under the leadership and direction of David Dykeman. In 2017, the choir welcomed Sherry Wood as our new director. The choir has also received support from the Aylmer Area Community Foundation.
The performance season begins in September and runs until May each year. Along with the Aylmer Area Community Band, the choir holds an annual Christmas concert and Spring concert, often featuring the talents of local artists and school groups. Both groups also visit local nursing and retirement homes throughout the year, performing our songs for the residents.
Participation in the Rotary Festival in February each year helps us to grow and evolve our musical talents and ambitions.
In 2009, the choir started a tradition of holding a nondenominational Lessons and Carols Service in December, telling the story of the birth of Christ. This is a free concert held at local churches and features musical entertainment from other groups and individuals. There is a free will offering with all of the proceeds donated to the Aylmer Corner Cupboard.
