As a result of Ontario Regulation 82/20, made under the Reopening Ontario Act, effective January 14, 2021 at 12:01 a.m. some construction sites operating under Building Permits issued pursuant to the Building Code Act shall be closed and/ or shall not commence.
It is the responsibility of permit holders to read, understand, keep up to date with and comply with the Ontario Regulation 82/20 and any other relevant Provincial or Municipal Emergency Orders and to determine when you are permitted to start and/ or continue construction.
Moving forward, the Town of Aylmer will continue to accept and review all permit applications. Only building permit applications for construction projects deemed essential by the Province of Ontario under O. Reg. 82/20 will be issued. Only inspections for construction projects deemed essential by the Town under O. Re. 82/20 will be booked and completed.

Building in Aylmer
Every owner of property in the Town of Aylmer who wishes to carry out any type of renovation, addition or new construction must contact the municipal office and speak to the Chief Building Official in the Planning and Development Department, to determine if a permit will be required for the works proposed. If it is determined that a permit is required, forms are available at the Municipal Office or individuals may utilize the Ministry forms found at http://www.mah.gov.on.ca/

The Ontario Building Code allows for the following timelines for the issuance of Permits:
Decks, additions etc - 10 business days
Residences, single, detached, semi - 10 business days
Commercial, Industrial, Institutional - 20 business days
