Assumption Separate School

Living in Aylmer Menu

Assumption Separate School is for students from Pre-Kindergarten (aged 4) to Grade 8 (aged 13) and will eventually move on to East Elgin Secondary School for Grades 9-12.

Assumption Separate School was the first Catholic school built in Aylmer in 1946. The building was known as Our Lady of Sorrows school, but with the addition of a four-room building in 1955 the name was changed to Assumption Separate School. By 1972 the school had 11 teachers and 250 pupils. In the early 90’s an adjoining house on South Street was purchased, and converted to a Kindergarten school and in 1997 a portable, consisting of three classrooms, a washroom was erected.
