Notice of Commencement: Town preparing Parks and Recreation Master Plan
September 13, 2022
The Town of Aylmer is preparing a Parks and Recreation Master Plan!
The Town of Aylmer has embarked on the exciting endeavour to create a strategic Parks & Recreation Master Plan for the Town. The Master Plan will be used to guide the strategic management and decision-making process relative to the provision and sustainability of parks and recreation facilities and programs.
What is a Parks and Recreation Master Plan?
A Parks and Recreation Master Plan is a strategic document that studies the existing park system, facilities and recreation programming, and identifies a planning blueprint to improve, protect and expand the Town’s network of parks, facilities and recreational services for the future. The Master Plan will provide both a long-term vision for the Town’s park system, and specific policies and standards to direct day-to-day decisions. It will create a framework that will allow the Town to respond to new opportunities as they arise, and ensure that adequate parks, trails, facilities, and programs meet the needs of the Town’s existing and future residents and visitors.
What is the Process?
The Master Plan process will be prepared through a Three-Phase Work Program, which is anticipated to be complete by the end of January 2023.
How can I participate?
Throughout Phase 1 of the project process, the Town will be hosting an online survey, an open house, workshops, and focus group interviews to obtain community feedback on the existing parks and recreation system within the Town.
Feedback will be used to inform the review of Aylmer’s existing Parks and Recreation system and will guide recommendations and next steps as we move forward with the study. Summaries and updates will also be posted to the project website for those that want to follow along in the process.
The four surveys are now closed.
*All residents and interested parties are encouraged to complete Public Survey. Individuals representing stakeholder groups, seniors, and youth are encourages to complete all applicable surveys.
