National Coaches Week

National Coaches Week encourages Canadians to say thanks and celebrate the tremendous positive impact coaches have on athletes and communities. This week will focus on putting a spotlight on coaches and give this, largely volunteer, integral part of Canadian sport a thanks.

With events held across the province and country to celebrate coaching, National Coaches Week provides coaches with the recognition they deserve for the time they devote to ensuring Canadians live an active, healthy lifestyle. I am requesting that September 17th to 25th, 2022 be publicly proclaimed National Coaches Week in Toronto to say thanks to the more than 300,000 coaches who call Aylmer and Ontario home.

Throughout the week, communities all across Ontario will be showing their support for coaches through community events, proclamations and lightings to celebrate and recognize coaches. For more information on our organization and the 7th annual National Coaches week initiative, please visit

The Coaches Association of Ontario is an independent, non-profit, coach-led organization, founded in 2002, that strengthens development opportunities and provides resources, representation and recognition for coaches in all sports of all levels. We believe coaches’ contributions should be financed and rewarded appropriately, and the Coaches Association of Ontario advocates that sports and the coaching profession continue in a culture of innovation, continual renewal and professional development.

National Forest Week

Covering 66% of the province and 71.1 millions hectares, Ontario’s forests are an indispensable source of ecological, cultural, health, social and economic benefits.
Its forests are also located on the traditional territory of diverse Indigenous nations and provide nourishment and cultural value to these groups.
Aylmer’s greenspaces and tree cover offer valuable recreation to its residents.
Its urban forest is a center for physical, mental, social and community wellbeing.
Its tree cover also contributes essential ecological services for the town such as pollution reduction, stormwater retention, cooling and energy savings.
This one-week campaign that takes place during the last week of September each year challenges Canadians across the country to learn more about the forest sector and its significance to Canada’s culture, history, and future, while also supporting a greater recognition of forests as a valuable, renewable and green resource.
The theme this year “Canada’s Forests: Solutions for a Changing Climate”, will highlight the inextricable link between us and our forests. From local communities to vast woodlands, we will be celebrating the nature-based solutions for climate change mitigation and adaptation provided by Canada’s forests. Forests help reduce climate change by trapping and storing greenhouse gases. Trees also soften the impacts of a changing climate and extreme weather by moderating temperatures and protecting biodiversity. This year’s theme showcases the importance of sustainable forest practices, research, conservation, engineered wood products, and innovative technologies to provide solutions from Canadian forests. By emphasizing their role within climate change, our goal is to foster an enthusiasm for our forests and invite individuals to engage in sustainable action.
Participating in #NationalForestWeek can be as simple as sharing posts and graphics on social media created by CIF-IFC using the hashtag #NationalForestWeek. The Resource Works Society will also be sharing stories about working forests and forestry communities throughout the week.
