Aylmer, ON – August 3, 2022

Following a multi-year hiatus as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Council of the Town of Aylmer is excited to officially welcome the community back to the newly renovated Council Chambers, located at 25 Centre Street, Aylmer for their Regular Council Meeting on August 10, 2022 at 5:30 p.m.

The Town was successful in receiving $107,000 of project funding through the COVID-19 Resiliency Funding Program to help facilitate the renovation.

Upgraded features in the new Council Chambers space include a modernized layout that allows for greater total occupancy and social distancing (if preferred), enhanced hybrid meeting functionality and additional main floor office and meeting space.

“I couldn’t be more pleased to welcome the community back to Town Hall,” said Mayor Mary French. “While we have managed to remain engaged with the community through virtual meetings since 2020, it is important that we provide the option for either in person or virtual attendance to be as accessible as possible to residents of the Town. I encourage community members to join us at a future Council Meeting and tour the new space.”

Chief Administrative Officer, Andy Grozelle noted: “the Council Chambers Renovation project was a tremendous opportunity to prepare for the continued growth and prosperity of the Town. While COVID-19 presented key challenges for all public meetings, we were able to take advantage of available funding opportunities to improve our current facility for the next 25+ years. The new Council Chambers is a dynamic, accessible and inclusive space that will serve numerous purposes beyond Regular Council Meetings, including being the home of the Voter Information Centre for the 2022 Municipal Election and other Committee and Board Meetings such as the Police Services Board.”
