The Building, Engineering and Planning and Development departments for the Town of Aylmer have collaborated to prepare a report for Council to provide a development activity update from January 2023 to present. The report was presented at the June 7, 2023 Regular Meeting of Council.

Summary of Building Department Activity
- 38 permits issued in 2023 (January-June)
- 6 new dwelling units
- 5 single family homes
- 1 additional residential unit
- New drive-thru restaurant – Dairy Queen, 25 Progress Drive
- New daycare center – Assumption Catholic School, 42 South Street East
Summary of Planning and Development Department Activity
- 335 John Street South – 34 unit townhouse condominium site
- Willow Run – 55 single detached residential lots, 8 semi-detached lots, 13 townhouse residential lots, 44 unit vacant land condominium community
- 45 Progress Drive – Home Hardware commercial addition and lumber yard
- 230 John Street – Conversion of commercial building to a proposed 8 unit residential development
- 34 Sydenham Street East – Commercial use in the front of an existing building with a maximum of 6 residential dwelling units in the remainder of the building
- 6 minor variance applications
- 4 pre-consultations in progress for potential industrial use, commercial redevelopment, and multi-unit residential development
- Centennial Estates Subdivision, Phase 2, Stage B – 33 single detached residential lots
- 85 Forest Street – 18 unit condominium site
- Aylmer Industrial Park – proposed 14 lots of varying sizes to be fully serviced for industrial development
Summary of Engineering Activities
- Creation of the Town of Aylmer Design Guidelines Manual
- Creation of the Town of Aylmer Consolidated Linear Infrastructure Environmental Compliance Approval (CLI-ECA) program
- Creation of a new Site Plan Agreement template and issuance of individual site plan agreements
- Issuance and receipt of Road Occupancy Permits
- Review and provide comments on various development applications: storm water management calculation review, low impact development review, sanitary design calculation review, water modeling review, servicing easement requirements, private and public parking requirements, landscaping requirements, lighting requirements, AODA requirements
