Elk Street Reconstruction Update: Phase 1 & Road Closure
Location: Elk Street – Talbot Street East to Victoria Street South
Road Closures and Access:
- Closure of Elk Street, between Talbot Street East and Victoria Street South, will commence Monday, March 31, 2025.
- Elk Street, between Talbot & Victoria Street, will be closed to through traffic, but local traffic will still be able to access the area.
- Driveway access may be interrupted periodically during construction. Advanced notice will be given to all residences affected.
- Commuters are asked to follow the marked detour routes.
Works Scheduled for March 31-April 4, 2025:
- Installation of temporary traffic control signage and detour routes
- Layout and commissioning of temporary watermain (Phase 1)
- Pulverization of existing roadway asphalt
- Sawcut and removal of private driveways and curb and gutter
Construction Safety:
- Please respect the work zone.
- Use caution when using the street or sidewalks near construction limits.
- Maintain a safe distance from any moving equipment, stockpiles or trenches.
