Fraud and Scam Messages

Sometimes, scammers may pretend to be the Town of Aylmer. They may contact you by email, text message, phone call or through a fake website.
Not sure if a message is really from the Town?
If something seems suspicious:
- Do not click links or open attachments you were not expecting.
- Do not share passwords, banking information or other personal information.
- Do not make a payment if you are not sure the request is real.
- Contact the Town using the phone number or email listed on aylmer.ca to check if the message is real.
Signs of a possible scam
Be careful if a message:
- Tells you that you must act or pay right away.
- Threatens you if you do not respond.
- Asks for passwords, banking or credit card information.
- Asks you to pay in an unusual way.
- Includes a link or attachment you were not expecting.
- Comes from an email address, phone number or website that looks unusual.
A message may still be real even if you were not expecting it. If you are unsure, contact the Town before you respond or make a payment.
