Community Grants – 2027 Applications Now Open

The Town of Aylmer recognizes the valued contributions being provided through the volunteer efforts of community organizations and agencies on behalf of the citizens. Corporate grant funding demonstrates Council’s commitment to working with groups which provide these beneficial programs, services or events to the community, while at the same time recognizing the financial constraints impacting the Town’s ability to provide funding to these groups.

Updates to the Community Grants Program

The Community Grants Program has been updated to make the application process more fair, clear, and consistent. The changes create a more objective review process, give Council more opportunity to review and discuss applications, provide a dedicated meeting for grant discussions, and help Council make funding decisions that better support community priorities.

Updated Grant Streams

Applicants will now apply under one of the following grant categories:

  • Community Event Grants: provide funding, generally ranging from $500 to $5,000 to support public community-based events, with municipal funding typically representing no more than 25-40% of total event costs.
  • Community Project Grants: provide one-time funding, generally ranging from $2,500 to $15,000 for defined projects with clear deliverables, with matching contributions or multi-source funding strongly recommended.
  • Capital Works Grants: provide one-time funding, generally ranging from $10,000 to $25,000 for capital assets or infrastructure delivering long-term community benefit, with matching funding required where feasible.

Reporting Requirements

Organizations that receive funding must submit a short year-end report explaining how the funding was used and what outcomes were achieved. Reports are due each year by September 30. This report is required only for applicants who previously received grant funding through the Town of Aylmer.

Community Grants Program Policy

The Municipal Grants policy establishes eligibility requirements, identifies the types of funding available, and outlines application and monitoring requirements.

Preference will be given to organizations that demonstrate community support, efficient use of resources, sound business practices and develop volunteer knowledge, skills and self reliance.
