In Memory of Former Mayor Bob Habkirk
The Town of Aylmer is saddened to learn of the passing of former Mayor Bob Habkirk over the weekend.
Bob Habkirk dedicated many years of service to the Aylmer community. He served as a Town Councillor from 1986–1988 and 1992–1994, and as Mayor for four terms: 1995–1997, 1998–2000, 2001–2003, and 2006–2010. In total, he served 10 years as Mayor of Aylmer, leaving a lasting impact on the municipality and its residents.
Mayor Couckuyt shared the following remarks:
“I am saddened to hear of the passing of former Mayor Bob Habkirk. He was a dedicated servant to this community. It was an honour to serve alongside him, and I will always remember his tell-it-like-it-is stance and his forthright approach to issues. Bob served for 10 years as Mayor of Aylmer. My condolences go out to his family and all who were close to him.”
In accordance with the Town’s Flag Policy, municipal flags will be flown at half-mast from the time of public notice of his passing until sunset on the day of the funeral.
The Town of Aylmer extends its sincere condolences to the Habkirk family and to all who knew and worked with Bob during his many years of public service.
