Notice of Proposed Amendment to Municipal Heritage Designation By-Law – 74 and 76 King Street

Notice Date: January 21, 2026

TAKE NOTICE that Council of the Town of Aylmer proposed By-law 02-26 on January 15, 2026, being a by-law to amend Municipal Heritage Designation By-law 18-83, at its regular Council meeting held on that date.

PROPERTY DESCRIPTION:

Municipally known as: 76 King Street, and 74 King Street, Aylmer, ON

Legal Address: LOT 5 N/S PINE ST BLOCK 1, PART OF LOT 4 N/S PINE ST BLOCK 1 PLAN 74 DESIGNATED PART 1, 11R8868, TOWN OF AYLMER.

PIN: 35305-0019

EXPLANATION OF THE PURPOSE AND EFFECT OF THE PROPOSED AMENDMENT:

The purpose of the proposed amending by-law is to correct the legal description in By-law 18-83 for the designated property municipally known as 76 King Street, following a severance that created a separate new parcel known as 74 King Street, and to clarify that the heritage designation applies only to 76 King Street and excludes 74 King Street.

The effect of the amendment is that it will remove potential ambiguity for the 74 King Street parcel while confirming that the protected heritage attributes relate to the residence at 76 King Street.

In addition, because the Ontario Heritage Act requires that amendments to older designation by-laws also include any changes necessary to ensure the by-law complies with current requirements, the proposed amending by-law also includes required updates to the designation by-law content to meet those current standards.

OBJECTIONS:

A person who objects to a proposed amendment to a designating by-law shall, within 30 days after the date of publication of the notice of proposed amendment, serve on the clerk of the municipality a notice of objection setting out the reason for the objection and all relevant facts. The newspaper notice will be published January 21st, 2026 and the corresponding deadline for objections will be February 20th, 2026.

Objections can be submitted to:
