Notice of Road Work – 2023 Micro Surfacing
For 2023, Aylmer Council increased the Town’s commitment to the Hard Surface Maintenance Program. Part of that program includes micro-surfacing. The goal of micro-surfacing is to restore and extend the useful life of the roadway using emulsified asphalt and a mineral aggregate. Micro-surfacing systems are cost efficient preventive maintenance treatment that delay deterioration of the pavement.
Project Details:
Schedule: Tentative Start Date (Weather Dependent)– September 13, 2023
Anticipated Completion – September 20, 2023
Each street will take approximately one (1) day to complete.
Scope: Micro Surface Entire Roadway, Asphalt and Aggregate Placement

Impacts During Construction:
Product Curing: This work represents a considerable investment, and we are working to obtain the best quality product. During the first few hours, the fresh asphalt (road surface) will be susceptible to marking and scaring. We ask that you please avoid making any unnecessary sharp turns, dry steering, or sudden stops and starts during this time. Also, the fresh asphalt may leave marks on your driveway. Please avoid driving over the fresh asphalt and entering your driveway until the micro surface is cured.
Traffic: Traffic will be reduced at times. There will be select periods of time where driveway access may be restricted or denied for a few hours. Notice will be provided by the contractor when possible.
Safety: Stay safe and avoid the work area during construction. Maintain a safe distance from construction equipment and vehicles entering and leaving the site.
