The Council of the Town of Aylmer is seeking applications for the Community Member appointed by Town Council on the Town of Aylmer Police Services Board. The application form for this position can be found below. Council will review the applications and make an appointment in June 2024.

The Town of Aylmer Police Services Board provides oversight for the provision of adequate and effective police services in the municipality. In consultation and cooperation with the Chief of Police of Aylmer Police Service, the Town of Aylmer Police Services Board provides for a variety of oversight responsibilities under the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019. The position is compensated, meets monthly on a regular schedule, and may be requested to meet outside of regularly schedule at times. The regularly scheduled meetings are the second Tuesday of each month, at 5:30pm.

The Town of Aylmer Police Services Board is composed of five members:

  • The head of the municipal council, or if the head chooses not to be a member of the Board, another member of Council appointed by resolution of the Council;
  • One member of the Council appointed by resolution of the Council;
  • One person appointed by resolution of the Council, who is neither a member of the Council nor an employee of the Municipality (term of council); and
  • Two persons appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council
