Litigation against the Town – October 7, 2026
The Town of Aylmer is responding to a media request to confirm whether there is ongoing litigation involving the Corporation and a current member of Council.
The Town is currently a respondent to an application filed with the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO) by a Member of Council. The application arises from Council and Integrity Commissioner matters involving a Member of Council in their capacity as a member of Council, including decisions previously considered and reported publicly.
Aylmer Council has met in Closed Session once in relation to this matter for the purpose of providing direction to its legal counsel. The substance of that discussion is confidential. This confidentiality does not extend to the existence of a legal filing, which is a matter of public record.
Individuals seeking records related to this application should contact the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario directly. The HRTO advises that records of proceedings, including applications and responses, are generally available to the media or public on request, subject to applicable access and confidentiality rules.
