Planning to view the solar eclipse on Monday April 8th? Follow these tips for safe travel and viewing of the eclipse.
In Elgin County, the eclipse can be viewed between 2:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. depending on your location. Public viewing locations in Elgin County include: Port Glasgow Beach, John E. Pearce Provincial Park, Fingal Wildlife Area, Port Stanley Main Beach, Port Stanley Little Beach, Port Bruce Beach, Port Burwell East Beach, and Aylmer Wildlife Management Area.


Looking directly at the uncovered Sun without protection can cause retinal burns, blurred vision, or loss of eyesight.
To protect your eyes, use glasses with specialized filters adhering to the ISO 12312-2 international standard. If appropriate eye protection is not available, alternative viewing strategies should be considered such as an eclipse box or a livestream.
While driving, avoid looking at the eclipse. Expect increases in traffic and road congestion. If travelling to view the eclipse, plan to arrive at your destination in advance of the event.
