Public Notice: Amendments to the Procedural By-Law for Council Meetings

At its April 2, 2025 meeting, the Council of the Town of Aylmer will consider By-Law 28-25 to Amend the Town’s Procedural By-Law. The agenda for the meeting will be posed Thursday April 10th by 2:00 p.m. on www.aylmer.ca

The following changes are proposed to Section 21 Rules of Debate:

“21. Rules of Debate

21.10 Following the pulling of any consent item, presentation of a new motion, or consideration of a staff report, Council members may ask questions to staff that are directly related to the report or issue being considered.

21.11 Council members shall not engage in commentary or debate until all members have been given the opportunity to ask staff questions, including any follow-up questions that may arise.

21.12 Following the Chair concluding the period of staff questions, Council shall follow the rules of Debate on the motion before them as outlined in this section.”
