Town Building Maintenance
The Town is committed to the ongoing care and maintenance of all our buildings. Last year the Town undertook thorough assessments of each facility. The findings were integrated into the Town’s 10-year capital plan. This plan ensures that resources are set aside to address each building’s future needs, with repairs and improvements scheduled responsibly over time. Immediate needs have already been handled; routine maintenance continues under the supervision of our Director of Engineering and Chief Building Official.
Contrary to recent claims, the Town is actively caring for our buildings. Our strategy focuses on making efficient use of resources, which can include planning comprehensive projects, rather than piecemeal fixes, to minimize costs, disruptions, and maximize grant eligibility. The Town has numerous competing fiscal pressures, and, for the benefit of all our residents, they must be addressed strategically. Staying grounded in facts and working together is crucial as we continue to preserve these community assets.
